Do You Think Phony Tony (Tony Abbott) = Pauline Henson on Steroid?
Phony Tony (Tony Abbott) is high on morality! He would like to snoop around your bedroom and confiscate condoms!! He is also big on rhetoric and short on substance. After all he is a trained priest and managed to stay out of pedophilia and child molestation cases!
Should you wish to examine Mighty Israel, Miners and Dirty Leaders you may discover Toney loves Israel more than Australia like Julie Bishop! Julie Bishop loves Israel more than Australia! So is Toney!! However, Abbott despises workers right and workers in general. Bashing Aboriginals, migrants, Muslims, refugees, workers, ... are few of his qualities.
With the assistance of shock jocks and tabloid media outlets Phony Tony managed to remove two of his predecessors.
Should he becomes Prime Minister of Australia, may be Jesus will prefer to leave Australia!
Phony Tony (Tony Abbott)
Phony Tony is big on rhetoric and short on substance.
His militant lies and bigoted statements about abortion, Aboriginal issues, asylum seekers, workplace laws, … are providing ecstasy to redneck and rat bags! They are rallying behind him like flock of sheep.
Earlier this year, the shock jocks and spin doctors managed to change the leadership of a major political party over a totally false and jaundiced debate about the “Climate Change’ or ‘Global Warming”.
Right now, shock jocks and “Nazi” media outlets of this country are providing him with unprecedented coverage while they are also silencing counter point of views!
As result, even the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is muzzled by him too!

We used to see a lot of this during the Vietnam War protests. They frequently succeeded in turning otherwise peaceful marches into violent, rock-throwing, tear-gas grenade nightstick beatings and arrest confrontations between police and demonstrators.

Inciting riots and conspiracy to incite riots is illegal in most countries. Citizen arrests of lawbreakers is also legal, at least in the US.
Have citizens ever arrested an undercover police officer acting as an agent provocateur and trying to incite a riot?
Has any police officer ever been prosecuted for inciting a riot, or conspiracy to incite a riot?
I've personally never heard of it happening, but maybe I'm just out of the news loop.

Indonesia. As much as I want to apply "Ask not what your country can do for you", I'm fed up. I couldn't even do the good things I dream to do for my country, because people who uphold justice and righteousness only get marginalized and jaded.
I'm horrified by this place's base morality. I graduated high school from Australia but my diploma was legally declined because the govt perceives returning students from abroad as either faking it, or assume that the unfinished studies must be due to an irresponsible life of the party. I returned because of health and financial setbacks, and am intending to start a new life in my own country.
I've been with a university in Jakarta for 3 years, but am not allowed to graduate unless I retake my primary and secondary school exams and pay hundreds of dollars to the government for it (a large percentage, I'm sure, which never reached the govt but would be pocketed by my tutor). I retook my grade 9 exam today (there's this special program where kids who failed to graduate can get their diploma) and the teachers - CIVIL SERVANTS - were handing out the answers to the test, which I blatantly refused. They laughed at me for doing this 2-hour math test without cheating, and tried to give me the paper of a boy who finished before me.
My uni pretends as if it were in London, and brainwashes the students into thinking that their Indonesian heritage is worthless in the face of globalization. They invest in interior design and sound systems to make the campus appear hip and commercial, but hire retired movie stars to teach the classes. My classmates have no work ethic and no manners - and that becomes very difficult for me, since this program relies mostly on group projects. And the teachers and staff think it's normal - so they constantly torment and intimidate us like 5-year-old spoiled brats.
So much injustice around me. Factory workers doing 18-hour days and living in cardboard boxes at the dumpsite of their workplace. Poor people dying from preventable causes because the hospital turns a blind eye to those who can't show the money. Indigenous tribes having their land and culture snatched in the name of industrialization; their kids brainwashed by force into modernization. City kids enslaved to their parents ambition; attending expensive schools that teach them to be Western, being raised by nannies and the trashy media, lacking the experience of parental love and respect but instead have it substituted by consumerism. The police lets offenders get away by offering the option of paying a "peacemaking fee". The government hires pop singers to make our country's laws, and gives away free laptops and luxury cars for parliament members using tax money.
How can I live in a filthy place like this; not to mention, raise kids here? I've attempted many things to make this country a better place: publish writings, co-start a counselling service for post-abortive women, volunteer in disaster relief projects, hosted a political talk show for students on the radio, attend church prayer rallies, started up a theater company... all for the love of my country ... and yet nothing lasted. Nothing changed for the better, nobody benefitted from my hard work, and all I got back was failure, betrayal, setbacks, and heartache.
Don't get me wrong, I love my country. If I didn't, I wouldn't feel this way about it. My beautiful country has a precious history and heritage, and it will forever be a part of me. I'm just heartbroken that my people are treating themselves like this, and they wonder why they can't proudly wear their Indonesian identity on their sleeve in the face of the international world. If I had the power change the way my country sees itself, the society's attitudes and behaviors, I would. But I'd hate to continue toiling futile effort only to be disappointed; and I'm starting to think that I deserve to live in a place where my vision and values are appreciated, where I will actually have the opportunity and the resources to act upon them and make things happen. Who knows, maybe making it big abroad will give me more power to eventually come back to my country with the blessing I've always dreamt of showering it with.
I've been thinking about leaving my country to take a master's degree and work as an expat journalist. My fiance is a lawyer. He grew up in and graduated from Europe (Netherlands), and is open to live abroad when we get married; perhaps by joining a multinational company here as a legal staff and then being transferred to an office in another country. Australia, Argentina, Chile, and Dubai are among our top lists; I would have added Israel, but my country has no diplomatical ties with it. Should I leave? If so, how do I plan to do so as a married couple in 2-5 years time? If not, then what can I do to make my existence in this country more fruitful
Btw my brother is a US citizen so I'm wondering if getting sponsored for a Green Card there is an option. Out of all the countries I've lived in, the US has been the one that best accomodates immigrants.
I know that every country has its own "sins", but there are actually countries where I could be happy despite that. I was happiest when I lived in Australia and Belgium, and feel much at home in the U.S. While moral degradation and injustice also take place in these countries, at least the work ethic in schools and the workplace are much better, the laws are enforced consistently, the government actively acts upon the people's needs, the lifestyle is more conducive for self development and family life, and citizens don't get singled out just because they've traveled the world and studied elsewhere and returned to make their country a better place.
Back to the question: should I leave? How? Otherwise, how could I survive and thrive in Indonesia without ingesting its moral poison?

Illegal? Better if you're Irish
An estimated 30,000 undocumented immigrants who aren't Latino live a more native-born life in New York.
Woodlawn, The Bronx — IMAGINE HILLARY Clinton holding up a T-shirt that read: "Legalize Mexicans." That's not going to happen, right?
Well, last month in Washington, at a rally hosted by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform, the leading Democratic candidate for president actually did have her picture taken holding a shirt that read: "Legalize the Irish." That's the lobby's in-your-face slogan, which says a lot about the role that race (and ethnicity) plays in the debate about illegal immigration. Latino activists bend over backward trying to cloak undocumented Mexican migrants in the slogan "We are America," but their Irish counterparts don't feel similarly obliged.
There are an estimated 50,000 Irish illegal immigrants in the U.S.; 30,000 of them are thought to live in New York City. Today, this tiny corner in the northern reaches of the Bronx is perhaps the most heavily Irish-born neighborhood in New York, and advocates believe that as many as 40% of local immigrants are undocumented.
On Tuesday afternoon, I walked up Katonah Avenue, Woodlawn's main shopping street, trying to guess who was or wasn't here illegally. How about that blond woman walking with her child? Or perhaps the redhead in pink sweats? Surely the two rough-hewn construction workers enjoying a lunchtime beer at the Rambling House bar didn't have papers. Like the woman I met in California's Central Valley a few months ago who told me how odd it had been to see white people engaged in farm labor in Australia, it was a decidedly new sensation for me to suspect all the white people around me of being illegal.
"When I tell people I'm undocumented, it shocks them," said Mary Brennan, a nurse's aide who has lived in the U.S. for almost 17 years. "They think of JFK or Ronald Reagan, and they can't understand how an Irish person could be illegal."
Though Brennan shares the hardships of undocumented status with other illegal immigrants throughout the country — last year she was unable to attend her brother's funeral in Ireland for fear that she'd be denied reentry to the U.S. — she acknowledges that Irish illegals do have a slight advantage. It's all in the stereotypes — race-based, language-based, class-based.
Her friend, contractor Dermot Byrne, who also is here illegally, agrees. "From my experience, we're not singled out. If someone's driving down the street and they see five Mexican guys on one side and five Irish guys on the other, they're going to think that the Mexicans are illegal, even though it could be the other way around."
Despite his status, Byrne has placed a pro-immigration-reform sticker on his car, as well as Irish versions of an "I love Jalisco" decal that identify his and his wife's home counties in the old country.
Irish immigrant advocates are acutely aware that the American public doesn't identify the Irish as alien, let alone illegal, and they consciously leverage this positive prejudice to their advantage.
"The fact that they're white Europeans agitating for immigration reform is helpful," said Niall O'Dowd, chairman of the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform and publisher of the Irish Voice newspaper. "Bottom line is that every ethnic group brings their own strength to the debate. We can't put a million people in the street, but we have positive political identification and a lot of access to Democrats and Republicans."
There are 40 million Americans of Irish descent, and O'Dowd believes that a good portion of them, particularly the politicians, are sympathetic to the plight of illegal Irish immigrants. His office is filled with snapshots of him shoulder to shoulder with the likes of John McCain, Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy. "The key is to have sympathetic politicians of the same ethnic background," he said.
Seeking to put a white Irish face on the issue of illegal immigration, O'Dowd and the Irish Lobby sent a delegation of 3,000 undocumented workers to Washington last month, not to protest but to lobby U.S. lawmakers. "We Irish are good at playing politics from the inside," he said. "When politicians see that even the Irish can be undocumented, then they realize that there's something wrong with the immigration system."
But whites' more favorable view of illegal immigrants who look like them may not translate to the growing number of Americans whose ancestors do not hail from Europe. The Pakistani-born cab driver who took me from the subway station to Katonah Avenue said he generally found Irish immigrants to be nice, as well as good tippers. "But they won't rent you an apartment around here if you're n

This is gonna be a long rant, but anyway. I was in class yesterday and discussing Asylum Seekers. Everyone was saying that they don't belong, and should go back to their own country and die there. But I don't think that's fair at all! They're trying to get away from their country, their country which is taking their lives. What do you expect from them? To want their future generations to be brought up in the same manner that they were? It's horrible. Of course if they had a criminal record or anything, they'd be sent back to their country, but if there's nothing wrong with them and we send them back, what kind of message is that sending out for OUR country. I'm in Australia by the way. I know it may sound like we are letting ANYONE into our country, but really, we would be just trying to help out. I don't think its fair letting all these people suffer and die when we can do something. Think about all those little kids over in Indonesia, they drinking dirty water and having pratically nothing to eat. And they have to deal with that everyday. We take everything for granted, having clean water and a place to feel safe and warm. I just wish that we could help more people. I'm having a rally in my hometown soon and have been having competions at school to raise money for them, but its not really helping too much.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on the Asylum Seekers?
I don't mean that we let them all in. I'm saying that if Asylum Seekers come to Australia, and then we just take them back to their own country is not fair. If they got here by boat, they've gone through A LOT to get here, its not fair for them to suffer.

why dont you search it up. Search up '2009 Australia day riots'.you obviously havent, because you told me it wasnt true and that I was the one who was making it up- when clearly an internet search says differently.
and ask myself how I would feel? about what. I am an Australian, and I have heard this news story in the aussie news.i am not making any stories about against aussies, and am only angry with the racist ones.

''i am not making any stories about against aussies, and am only angry with the racist ones''
also I am not referencing a lie. jesus. did you search it up ''australia day riots 2009''?
i was only refering to the racist people who went through the streets being violent, just like cronulla. and that these ppl should be careful or else another riot may happen
HER:
Pixilated, you spend all your time denigrating white Australians, why?
You are referencing a lie to support a hope that white people are racist, just to excuse your own racism, which is not what Australians do.
You promote disrespect to all Australians. I am not white and you are disrespecting me, a student.
Every new wave of migrants disrupt the system. They grate on social norms and you choose to blame them for an unavoidable situation, calling all whites racist.

How am I?
I said THE ONES WHO ARE RACIST, I didn't say ALL white australians. Of the white australians, there are some youths out there who are racist, and these are the ones who I hate. These are the ones i'm talking against.
my god, and I repeated that twice in my messages
HER:
Neither, the fantasied white Australia Day riots or Cronula were racist, but you are.
If you want to go about town, hating on all white people because of propaganda, well you should realize that me and other people of mixed decent are going to see Indians as racist.
Nobody else is complaining, but we all hear is that you think Australia is a vessel of India, how?
It isn't, and you are lucky not to feel the wrath on non-white Australians, who to most people here, think white people are kind.
ME:
1. did you search up online news articles with the keywords ''australia day 2009''? if you searched it up you would realise it was not fake. you keep telling me it IS, but if i am trying to GIVE YOU PROOF, 3 TIMES ALREADY
2. and yes both were racist. if you searched up both of these issues on the internet, you should have known. for example, wikipedia(dot)com says, ''The 2005 Cronulla riots were a series of racially motivated riots and mob violence''
post cont. next comment
3. All I said is that these protestors should be careful. another group, and I WAS SIMPLY ONLY REFERENCING AN EXAMPLE OF ONE, was a group of anglo-saxons(or white aussies).
AND I QUOTED TO YOU 2 TIMES OF ME SAYING THAT I WAS NOT SAYING ALL WHITES WERE RACIST, AND THAT I WAS ONLY POINTING OUT THE ONES OF THE GROUP THAT WERE. I am saying that every race has its racists.
3. nowhere did I say that that these indians were racist, nor did I say they weren't.post continued next comment
& you tell me i think australia is a vessel of india? what does this mean? and I do not think I was trying to say this.all I was trying to say was that another group who could be angered by this, may start a riot or fight against them. I mean, look at the magnitude of these protestors? obviously it could flare up into something violent.
and where did I say I was hating on all white people? I DID NOT. I only hate the whites who happen to be racist, not ALL OF THEM.
HER:
The protesters are finished.
The Australian government stopped allowing Indian office's to handle visa application, that were falsified.
The colleges were a front for permanent residency, and they have been closed.
The student numbers are halved. The half protesting are gone. They had no real issue because statistics show the assaults were low compared to other countries. They made a threat an

Do you actually subscribe to India's sensationalist media?

ME:
i did not know that they stopped protesting. however, to repeat myself once more, i am not trying to be biased here. all i wanted to say was that with a PROTEST or call of that
of that magnitude, that potential riots may happen. violence may happen, with another group who could be mad
also, yes statistics say they were lower, but i was mainly referring to another bunch of people. when you get attacked, ppl may counter, yes? also i said ''another group'', one that i have no idea who would be formed by. however i did refer to some of the white youths who happened to be racist, as an example. since race is a big issue in this vid and in this group of indians, another group can make something out of it.
depending on the people and the attitudes, there could have been flare ups.
HER:
So, spell it out!

well I had to, because, judging from your replies you didnt get what I said despite numerous times I tried to explain. So I thought I might say it in more detail in case you did

you thought that I thought all whites were racist, and I told you and explained why i didnt, and yet you still said it twice after. and same thing about the

I have to write an essay for sose. could you please read it and tell me anything that needs correcting etc. thankyou so much.
here is the question;
chose a law or issue that has been passed or amended at a local, state or federal level in australia. give a background of the issue, identify whether it is state/federal/local, explain the goverment policy regarding the issue. explain why the law has generated oppostion. explain the social action groups and their actions
discuss wether the govermnet has changed its decision because of the social action.
In 2008 federal laws were changed to recognise same sex relationships, in most states of Australia as de facto partners or domestic partners. These changes were a great significance to gay, lesbian and gender diverse Australians because they promised a fairer and more equal future for same sex couples ending discrimination across all areas of life such as taxes and social security. But still one area of law that remains unequal is the right to be married; it is currently not recognised in Australia. In 2009 the Greens party introduced into Senate the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill, which has been greatly supported by the community but has generated opposition from numerous influential groups, one mainly; The Catholic Church. Through social action both the church and the gay community have been fighting for their opinions to be recognised, but as the bill is currently in government the outcomes are unknown.
Due to the increasing international trend towards the recognition of same sex marriage Greens Senator Bob Brown introduced the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill into Federal Parliament. The bill is currently being inquired and the outcome report is expected at the end of November 2009. The bill hopes to remove all discrimination from the Marriage Act of 1961, which describes marriage as the union between a man and a woman. If the bill is passed marriage will be permitted to anyone regardless of gender, sexuality and gender identity, although this is unlikely to happen as the Labour party, the Liberal party and the National party all oppose the law.
The Marriage Equality Amendment Bill of 2009 has generated opposition from family and religious groups, one in particular the Catholic Church. The Bible repeatedly notes that marriage is between a man and a wife, (Eph. 5:21-32) for the catholic religion marriage is a vocation that is not taken lightly. If the bill is passed it will cause much social uproar in the church as in their beliefs same sex marriage would disrespect the sanctity of marriage. Most Catholics think that homosexuality is unnatural and should not be recognised or approved of in society the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill is going against all of their beliefs and many leaders of the church have held petitions, protests and called upon other religions such as Baptists, Presbyterians and Anglicans to join the rally against the bill. The bill is opposed by religious groups but a recent poll has revealed that 60% of Australians agree with the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill.
Although there are now numerous religious groups petitioning and rallying against the bill there are many Australian homosexual movement groups petitioning and rallying for the bill to become part of federal law. Groups like the National LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Health Alliance and Australian Marriage Equality have created submissions and petitions to the Senate pushing for the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill to be passed. To get their point across 150 couples "illegally wed" outside the ALP conference at Darling Harbor, Sydney. The law passed in 2008 offered the same rights to homosexual partners as heterosexual partners in areas such as taxation, social security, health, aged care and employment, was a big step for same sex couples and their fight for equality is ongoing.
The social action taken on both the opposition and the supporter’s sides of the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill remains in the air as the outcome of the heated topic is not due until the end of November, 2009. The Australian federal government remains divided but with over 10,000 submission letters sent to the Senate office in support of same sex marriage members of the gay community are hoping the government will change their minds. The Labour party insists that they are refusing to budge while labour says they are open to compromise.
The increasing trend of allowing gay marriage in countries has sparked a huge debate about whether or not to legally permit same sex marriage in Australia, leading to the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill. Whether or not the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill is rejected or accepted both the religious groups and the gay communities will not be both fully satisfied with the outcomes. The social action taken by these groups is bound to persuade them one way or another but the public will not know the final outcome unt

Some environmentalist terrorists are not just protesting against the Australian round of the World Rally Championship, they have gone on a spree of destruction and vandalism of public roads and property.
Plus have rolled boulders onto the track and hurled rocks at the rally cars...??
These cars travel up to 200km/h on these dirt roads, as far as I am concerned that is attempted murder, and these tree huggers should be charged as such.
This event pumps over $100 million into the local economy and is seen by a worldwide audience.
What a fkn dangerously stupid embarrassment these so called protesters are.
yeah it's the same down here, they'll just get a slap on the wrist.
Although one of the pricks has been charged with malicious damage after spraying slogans all over 30km of bitumen road.
They should be forced to clean it all up as the cost to the council will be around 10 grand.
how is that stupid, they're driving on public roads like anyone else who lives in the area.
That is not disturbing any of the flora or fauna apart from a lizard or kookaburra maybe getting a bit of dust in it's throat. Even that would be a longshot because you can hear rally cars coming from a mile away.

it was about stopping capitalism and replacing it with Islam. Here is an e-mail I got from an organization that wants to keep our freedom of speech. the had sent a video detailing the event.
Friends
The event has been canceled that was mentioned in previous communication, however we believe the video is being used as a message to Muslims for a possible mega terror attack on US soil or US interests as the video says in Arabic "Good News coming soon for Islam" and on another web site the same person that posted the video states that July 5th will be a great day for Islam which was posted 5 days ago. The source of the posting lives in Australia which is a day ahead of us here in the USA, which strongly suggests that there will be a major attack on July 4. Hopefully the US security forces will find and eliminate the possible potential attack(s). We immediately reported our findings to the FBI and requested them to check using their sources the people that posted the video and their connections.
My question is what do you think about it? Should we be praying for the protection for our country right this very second?
Oh yes, I am so "stupid" to believe we can be attacked by terrorists. Are you related to Bill Clinton?

I am looking to rally as many people (men and women) who are in the same situation as me together to see if we can change the new Family Law amendment changed by the Howard govt in 2006.
My story is this:
I am a Canadian citizen who met my ex husband in the UK in Oct 2003. We fell pregnant early 2004 and we decided I would move to Australia with him (he is from here) We had our daughter in Dec 04 and our son in March 06. We split up in March 08 and I have stayed in Australia to see if things could work out on the parenting side of things.
They have not. I have NO family at all in Australia and his family offers me VERY little support. My kids see their dad 4 days per month and see the extended family once a year at mxas other than seeing his parents maybe 2 times per month.
I have decided I want to move back to Canada with my kids to be close to my entire family and all my friends. I would have my mum, dad, sister, aunts, uncles and friends to help me and we are all very close. I would also like my kids to grow up with my niece who is the same age as my son.
With the new law I have found it will be almost impossible to win a relocation order to move back to Canada therefore forcing me to live in Australia with no support, no family, no help NOTHING just so their dad can see them 4 days per month. He makes $145,000 a year and pays me $250 a week. He can more than afford a plane trip to Canada.
Again I am looking to find others out there who are going thru the same thing so we can band together and have something done about this law as it is the most atrocious and stupid law I have ever heard of.
Thanks and hope to hear from everyone soon :)

I see news footage of massive American political rallies with masses of flag waving enthusiastic people. Then there is American celebrities supporting particular political figures, every talk show/ news show/ celebrity garbage (ET) show going crazy over politics! Then there is the Obama's new dog..... they want its freekin DNA, there's articles everywhere and non stop talk about a dog! Oh and then there's all the talk about the fashion the presidential family wears... I stare at the TV while watching american TV programs thinking, do i really care what the first lady wears to dinner?
I just don't get it.
In Australia if we have an election we don't have any rallies and I think that's due to the fact that no one would turn up. We recently got a new prime minister and we certainly don't talk about his pets or what his wife wears, I don't even know his children's names, yet I know the American first children's names! Our comedians constantly pay out on our politics and downgrade political figures regardless of who he/she in pretty much every aspect. Our media never ever portrays our leaders in the kind of light in which America's media does. America glory fies its leaders whereas we put down our leaders and constantly belittle them.
The Difference just astounds me and i really want to know, why are American's like that and we (Australians) aren't?

Churchill on Mussolini and fascism:
“I could not help being charmed, like so many other people have been, by Signor Mussolini’s gentle and simple bearing and by his calm, detached poise in spite of so many burdens and dangers. Secondly, anyone could see that he thought of nothing but the lasting good, as he understood it, of the Italian people, and that no lesser interest was of the slightest consequence to him. If I had been an Italian I am sure that I should have been whole-heartedly with you from the start to finish in your triumphant struggle against the bestial appetites and passions of Leninism. I will, however, say a word on an international aspect of fascism. Externally, your movement has rendered service to the whole world. The great fear which has always beset every democratic leader or a working class leader has been that of being undermined by someone more extreme than he. Italy has shown that there is a way of fighting the subversive forces which can rally the masses of the people, properly led, to value and wish to defend the honour and stability of civilised society."
Churchill the racist:
"I do not admit that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America, or the black people of Australia by the fact that a stronger race, a higher grade race has come in and taken its place" - to the Palestine Royal Commission, 1937
Churchill on Hitler, circa 1937:
"One may dislike Hitler's system and yet admire his patriotic achievements. If our country were defeated, I hope we should find a champion as admirable to restore our courage and lead us back to our place among the nations"
Churchill tacitly advocating genocide against the "undesireables":
"The unnatural and increasingly rapid growth of the feeble minded and insane classes, coupled as it is with a steady restriction among all the thrifty, energetic and superior stocks, constitutes a national and race danger which it is impossible to exaggerate...I feel that the source from which the stream of madness is fed should be cut off and sealed up before another year has passed"
Does not their worship of outright fascists like Churchill and his ignorant lap-dog, Harry S. Truman, enlighten us as to their true beliefs?

Where can I see a picture/photo of the stolen bike? Can you post the exact URL? Thanks.
Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong is calling on legions of Twitter users to track down a one-of-a-kind bicycle stolen from a northern California racing venue.
Armstrong sent out a rallying cry to the more than 128,000 Twitter members who have signed up to receive the brief text messages he routinely fires off on the popular micro-blogging service.
"Whoa! They just came to my room and said our truck was broken into and someone stole my time trial bike!" Armstrong wrote in a Twitter message sent before sunrise on Sunday. "APB out to the twitterati."
The seven-time Tour de France champion had used the bicycle a day earlier at a rain-pelted, wind-pounded opening of the Amgen Tour of California. The 750-mile race continues through the week.
Armstrong's bicycle was one of four stolen from an Astana team truck parked behind a hotel in the California capital city of Sacramento.
The other bicycles reportedly belonged to team members Janez Brajkovic, Steve Morabito and Yaroslav Popovych.
Armstrong later posted a picture of his stolen bicycle in a Twitter "twitpic" accompanied by the message "There is only one like it in the world therefore hard to pawn it off. Reward being offered."
Replies ranging from supportive and empathetic to biting and cynical streamed back to Armstrong.
"On it," a Twitter user with the screen name 'krenoir' replied to Armstrong on Tuesday. "Spread the word and get it found ... and the perps too!"
Another Twitter follower wrote that he or she posted the bicycle's picture on social-networking website Facebook to "help spread the word in hope of finding this amazing machine."
"Sorry to hear about the bike," Twitter member 'Hotonabike' said Tuesday in a message to Armstrong. "If it's any consolation, you can borrow mine."
A Twitter member noticed what may have been the bicycle for sale at online auction house eBay, which was alerted and the page removed.
"Why some lowlife would list this bike on eBay is beyond me," wrote Twitter user 'seaflite,' who sent a message revealing a defunct eBay page.
"Definitely poor taste."
Cancer-survivor Armstrong, 37, retired in 2005 but has set out to make a comeback. The California race is his second on a comeback trail that started last month in Australia, where he finished 29th place in the Tour Down Under.
Armstrong intends to compete in this year's Tour de France.
"Hitting the sack early tonight," Armstrong wrote in a Twitter update late Monday. Two days in the pouring rain has worn my old @$$ out."

That his conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb. “Can we stop the fires? ...the Palestinians into their countries & make them citizens? I mean most are of the Muslim faith with only a few being of Christian & Hindu faith.
At least they could take in their fellow "Islamic" Palestinians, & leave the rest to find citizenship within countries that share their faith. Have Islamic controlled nations become so shallow & secular that they look at the Palestinians as a LOWER class of Islam???
Is it time for the U.N. to ASSIGN quotas for Islamic controlled nations, in regards to making Palestinians their newest citizens by mandated international law? If so, this would end the problems of hamas & other Islamic based terrorist cells around the world rallying around the Israeli/Palestinian "cause".
Considering what Europe, South America, Israel, Australia, & North America have done to aid the Palestinian cause in relief funds alone, one would think that the Islamic nations of the world would at least offer the Palestinians citizenship, which costs them "nothing"!
GB....then what you are saying is that the Palestinians are in all reality a "cult"?
Repairma... I too have heard that the Islamic of the Palestinians are a "death cult". There is in force both national & international law that prohibit that activity as criminal.
Gengi... the cost internationally to the global taxpayers to keep this Palestinian hoax up is in the billions of dollars.
Simply mandating international quota laws(been done before!!!) solves the problem once & for all.
Danny, the rest of the world has been SUPPORTING, at their cost, relief efforts for the Palestinians. It's time for Islam to accept it's own responsibilities.
Islam is going to have to accept the "burden" of the Palestinians, as the Palestinians are not of eastern or western culture. I am not saying that Islamic nations have ANY say so in this as it would be MANDATED upon the Islamic nations by international law, PERIOD!
It would NOT matter what the Palestinians "WANT" to do as they would have NO say so in the matter.
Regarding Israel, Israel is a sovereign nation. It has NO obligations what so ever to the Palestinians or any other nation for that matter.
Ocean, the Muslim controlled countries would have NO say so in the matter. If they did not "play ball" then military options would need to be put into play.
I am NOT saying they'd be happy with the outcome, I'm saying they would possess NO choice in the matter.

WA govt accused of caving in to GM lobby
14th November 2008, 15:45 WST
The West Australian government has caved in to pressure from lobbyists by lifting a ban on genetically modified cotton crops, the WA Conservation Council says.
The West Australian government today announced it would lift a moratorium on the commercial production of GM cotton in the East Kimberley region’s Ord River Irrigation Area in the state’s north.
Conservation Council director Piers Verstegen said the government had succumbed to pressure from the GM industry, despite community concerns.
“Once GM crops are introduced there is no going back. We will lose our reputation as a clean, green state for agricultural production,” Mr Verstegen said.
Agriculture and Food Minister Terry Redman said the decision followed extensive GM cotton trials in the area during the past decade.
“Over the years, trials of GM cotton in the Ord have frequently out-yielded Australian production by about 10 per cent,” Mr Redman said.
“These trials have shown that there are no agronomic problems, including the control of insects, in growing GM cotton in the Ord.
“Importantly, there have been no environmental concerns with the crops.”
The trials were conducted under the supervision of the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator, the WA Department of Agriculture and Food, and the CSIRO.
Mr Verstegen said Mr Redman had previously told an anti-GM rally at state parliament that he would listen to community views before a decision on the issue was made.
“He has not honoured that commitment and today’s announcement demonstrates that this government is open for business with the GM industry but quite happy to ignore the legitimate concerns of the WA community,” he said.
A 2007 report into GM crops estimated GM cotton would be worth more than $50 million a year to the region and would generate 200 full-time jobs.
More than 90 per cent of Australia’s cotton crop was already GM and the use of GM cotton would reduce chemical use in the Ord, Mr Redman said.
“In the 1970s, WA tried growing non-GM cotton and it was a disaster, with the plants infested with pests,” he said.
“Growers had to spray pesticides up to 40 times each season.
“In comparison, our GM cotton trials have only required two spray applications with insecticides that are far more environmentally-friendly than the now-banned DDT used in the 1970s.”
Opening up the Ord to GM cotton could relieve stress on the Murray-Darling system, Mr Redman said.
“Cotton growers facing severe water shortages in the eastern states will also have an alternative site that is well supplied with water all year round, and we may see some of their operations move to the Ord, providing relief to the Murray-Darling system,” he said.
But Mr Verstegen said GM cotton had not performed well in other countries and pesticide use had not been substantially reduced.
“Cotton is a crop that is extremely intensive in chemical and water use and the experience with GM cotton in other countries has shown that the use of pesticides is not reduced substantially as claimed,” Mr Verstegen said.
The WA government is reconsidering a moratorium on GM canola and assessing risk management issues surrounding the oilseed crop in GM form.

Consumer confidence is up, Wall Street rallies, Asian markets are recovering, HK grew, EU is handling its own, India is predicting it will not be affected, the "real" price of oil is resetting, the American public is more willing to see a loss on their quarterly statements than to take on an additional $700B (read trillion ++) dollars in debt. When you consider the term and language of the current plan it really invites that trillion to become at least 2 trillion. $605B in short-term loans has been made available to financial institutions through the Fed and central banking systems. Perhaps a slight reduction in interest rate can be offered to the most credit worthy, this should help offset the effect of LIBOR. How about a immediate small business credit guarantor program? It was really shoddy to release the $650B in secret, prior to the actual vote. Ireland was hit hard, but that was after a long period of unimaginable gains. Australia has its own mortgage scandal. Take a look at all the offshore banking institutions, some will be strong and others may not make it – too bad. Taxpayers don’t want to shore up institutions where the uber-wealthy go to NOT pay taxes and then be asked to pick up the CODB through loans AND bailouts. End the hysterics and regulate the market action. It is cyclical economics and we need to be in a regulatory cycle. Let investors bargain hunt – its better than risking the credit rating of this country any further. You got offshore drilling rights, the country is open to nuclear as well as alternatives. Energy and infrastructure are key to this country’s future and that’s going to be expensive and profitable. Big Oil has the dough to foot the bill. Olmert is ready to deal, Iran has a workable solution. Vladimir isn’t SO mad and General P is in place. All thats needed is a multi-trillion dollar international security deal and you will be golden.
Oh yeah, the the TED spread, an indicator of credit risk, fell to 3.15% from a 26-year high of 3.58% Monday, indicating a slight easing of the market. The TED spread is the difference between what banks charge each other to borrow for three months and what the Treasury pays.
